Nicknamed as "La Toti" by her five brothers and sisters and the rest of her cousins, that includes the famous television news anchor and reporter Carlos Vergara, who is currently working for WTVJ in Miami, Florida, Sofia Vergara has been one of the most sought-after models and product endorsers in the industry of entertainment. Vergara spent her childhood on her father's farm in Colombia and was sent to a private bilingual school that teaches in both English and Spanish. Vergara's path to stardom was quite unexpected for she was just discovered by a photographer while strolling around a Colombian beach. She was soon presented with various attractive offers in modeling and in TV careers. From then on, Vergara has appeared on various magazines such as Maxim, which came out as a surprise for her family since she was brought up in a religious and conservative manner. She then made her first public appearance when she was 17 years old in a Pepsi commercial that received tremendous amount of airtime all over Latin America.
